At home cold and flu remedies

This week I was featured on a TV show discussing natural cold and flu remedies. And I came up with 2 concoctions/remedies/recipes (call them what you like!) to help fight a cold or flu. They are made with things you would easily find at home, take less than 5 minutes to make, and taste delicious? You tell me!
Potion #1 The Fever Buster Elixir

Ingredients:
1 lemon, sliced in small pieces
2 tbsp ginger, sliced in small pieces
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 cup of honey

Add all ingredients in a glass jar and mix well. Let sit overnight. The next day, take approx 1 tbsp of the mixture and place in a mug with 1 cup boiling water. Let steep for a few minutes and drink up!

The ginger and cayenne add warmth. This mixture will taste a bit spicy, and it helps to sit warmly under the covers on your bed or couch to help your body's temperature increase a bit so you can bust that fever and feel better!

*Please note: Honey should not be given to children under the age of 1.
Potion #2 Cough Syrup

Ingredients:
1 onion (yellow or red), sliced in small pieces
2 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced (optional)
1/4 cup of honey
2-3 tbsp of water

Honey and onion mixture has a milder taste. Honey, onions and garlic packs more punch as it is pretty darn potent, and more suitable for staying at home and not speaking with anyone due to garlic breath! Both the garlic and onions, when raw, have anti-microbial properties to help you fight off infection. Honey helps soothe your irritated throat.

Add all ingredients in a glass jar and mix. Let sit overnight. The next day, you can strain out the onions and/or garlic and keep only the syrup. Take 1-2 tsp every 2-3 hours as needed to soothe your throat and cough.
